This workshop lasts 60 minutes.

Learn about what it take to get and use the new IU Framework for web sites. We will go through the process to request a framework, structure your site content for the framework, and how to use the basic functionality of the framework.

What You'll learn
  • Get a copy of the IU Framework in the WCMS.
  • The basics of Information Architecture and Content Strategy as it relates to the IU Framework.

Cascade Server: Managing Content will teach users how to manage content in IU’s WCMS, Cascade Server. Users will be provided a demonstration site, demonstration username and passphrase, and will be guided through tasks focused on the skills needed to create and edit content in the WCMS. These skills include editing pages, uploading images, working with existing assets, creating new assets, modifying and creating blocks, using asset factories, using workflows, publishing assets, and working within the WCMS.

Cascade Server: Managing Sites will give new site managers the skills they need to be able to continue support for a site that is already built and/or inherited. Users will be provided an existing site and demonstration username and passphrase. They will be guided through a series of tasks related directly to managing users, groups, roles, permissions, assets, publishing, modifying existing content, updating XSLT, using Cascade Server assets to generate XML, creating blocks, assigning those blocks to the appropriate assets, modifying templates, and controlling programmatic workflows.

Cascade Server: Building a Site will give new site managers the skills they need to plan and build a site in Cascade Server. Users will be provided an empty site and a demonstration username and passphrase. They will be guided through a series of tasks related directly to planning and creating a site from scratch. These tasks include building data definitions, defining content types, creating configuration sets, building templates, pages, asset factories, etc.

  • be familiar with your group's current site
  • be able to create, edit, and publish assets in Cascade Server
